This role is based in Washington, D.C. and will report to the Vice President of Public Policy. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance PepsiCo’s global policy standing by achieving public policy and government affairs objectives in two primary areas: mandatory sustainability reporting and human rights and social issues due diligence.

Responsibilities
  • Mandatory sustainability reporting:
    • Drive advocacy on global mandatory sustainability reporting (CSRD, ISSB) through the development of strategies, gathering regulatory developments, crafting talking points, and meeting with high-level stakeholders in international meetings.
    • Participate in working groups on mandatory sustainability reporting, both externally with trade associations, and internally with cross-functional business partners.
    • Assist with documenting and communicating policy approaches to senior leadership and other cross-functional business teams.
  • Human rights and social issues due diligence:
    • Develop and implement global risk management and engagement strategies for human rights policies
    • Drive advocacy on global human rights legislation and policy (CSDDD, EU forced labor) through the development of strategies, gathering regulatory developments, crafting talking points, and meeting with high-level stakeholders in international meetings.
    • Engage in grievance process on behalf of PPGA function.
    • Lead development of strategy to manage social issues, including information-sharing, issue analysis and driving coordinated action plans, and proactive planning for future issues
    • Provide critical policy support to Government Affairs, Communications, and HR colleagues on social issues legislation as it affects our business operations and employees.
  • Overall:
    • Represent the company externally on priority policy issues with policymakers and other key stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with Legal, Communications, Sustainability, and other functions to analyze public policies around reporting, human rights, transparency, and due diligence.
    • Oversee the daily operations of relevant internal working groups
    • Maintain active watch on key set of issues, monitor, prioritize and provide consultation to senior executives on public policy developments in priority areas.
    • Participate in, or when appropriate, lead, on issue-specific rapid response.
    • Manage outside consultant(s), prepare materials, and facilitate monthly meetings for the Senior Vice President, Global Public Policy and Government Affairs.
    • Collaborate with Investor Relations on relevant shareholder proposals.
    • Maintain a network of external relationships with industry representatives, government leaders and staff, nongovernmental organizations, and other critical stakeholders. 
    • Conduct strategies and actions with the highest level of integrity and ethics.
    • Maintain strong interaction and internal coordination with broader Corporate Affairs function, and with Legal function, HR function, and Global Sustainability Office.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $125,900 - $249,900.
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process.
  • Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 25% of annual salary paid out annually.
  • and an additional target payout of 10% of annual salary is paid out over 3 years following the end of the performance period.
  • Long term incentive equity may be awarded based on eligibility and performance.
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably master’s degree in public policy, government affairs or communications
  • Willingness to travel internationally 2-3 times per year.
  • Willingness to accommodate time zones of international colleagues (e.g., Asia, Europe), including occasional meetings and presentations before and after typical working hours.
  • Experience in developing public private partnerships and in risk assessment and management.
  • Proven ability to design and implement stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to communicate with internal and external audiences.
  • Highly proactive and able to navigate ambiguity and complexity while developing successful solutions.
  • Strong relationship building and influencing skills, with experience engaging with executive leadership, and ability to thrive within a dynamic environment.
  • Works well under pressure with an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to advance projects quickly in a heavily matrixed organization.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to focus both on detail and the larger picture.
  • Exhibits a high level of critical/strategic thinking. Recalibrates strategies in response to evolving political and policy landscape.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 12 years of working experience (public sector experience preferred)
  • 8 years of Public Policy and/or Communications Experience (background in policy preferred)
  • Relevant expereince in doing sustainability reporting
